Group Sessions

Group Treatments
Experiencing successful group play is an important element of development. Many children with sensory processing difficulties have difficulty entering group play and sustaining interactions with other children. Group session provide a supportive opportunity to interact with other children.

Our groups consist of approximately 4-8 children who are similar in age and ability. We emphasize teamwork, turn-taking, and social interaction through large movement activities, fine motor activities, and “free play” time offering an unstructured play environment.

Pre-Handwriting Groups
These groups are provided for children who are 3-4 years old.  They focus on imiproving gross motor, visual motor, and motor planning skills in order to provide a foundation for academic skills.  These groups also address fine motor skills incluing grasp, coloring, cutting, and drawing.

Handwriting Groups
Our handwriting groups are provided for school-age children who need additional academic support. Similar to the social groups, we emphasize teamwork, turn-taking, and social interaction through large movement activities to warm-up and prepare the body for writing, specialized handwriting activities, and “free play” time offering an unstructured play environment. We use the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to introduce, enhance and refine writing skills.

Zones of Regulation and Social Thinking Groups
These groups focus on using the "Zones of Regulation" and "Social Thinking" programs to improve self-regulation and social interaction. The group sessions consist of identifying how the children feel when they are in the "Red Zone, Yellow Zone, Green Zone, or Blue Zone".  In addition, it provides children with activities in order to help them stay in the Green Zone at home, at school, and in the community.  Other social-based activities include identifying expected/unexpected responses, the Size of the Problem vs. Size of the Reaction, and Rock Brain/Super Flex.
